About Cam

Cam Beltran is cross-continental artist and mental health therapist who thrives on connecting people with the concepts and resources they need to enjoy their lives to the fullest.

Cam was born in Paris and raised in Philadelphia. After a decade of hard work in Chicago, including the completion of a Bachelor of Fine Arts program and a Masters in Art Therapy Counseling program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Cam decided to fly home to start a new chapter in the Loire-Atlantique area of France.

While jobs specifically in therapy and mental health counseling have been the focus of their professional career, these positions simply combine the core tenets of how Cam best contributes to the communities they’re a part of.

Cam has had art featured in juried shows throughout traditional gallery, art center, and museum spaces. Though, with a background of living through severe physical illness and navigating the health system in the United States, Cam has deliberately tried to bring art into healing spaces, including providing artwork to mental health hospitals/centers in Illinois and by contributing to the Doylestown Hospital Art Walk in Pennsylvania.

By connecting folks in hospitals with artists and artwork in these spaces, Cam fosters environments where patients can take a moment to breathe and find some reprieve, something so necessary to healing individuals and communities at large.

But Cam’s skills go beyond bridging art, spaces, and people. From 2021 to 2024, Cam’s full-time career became providing individual and group for populations around the Chicagoland area, but that doesn’t just mean consoling clients through the difficult moments in life.

At Chicago Behavioral Hospital, Cam led the revision of the company’s sexuality and gender training for all new employees, ensuring that the company instilled a forward-thinking, inclusive mindset in each person contributing to the care of the hospital’s patients.

Cam continued to be a connector and an educator through work at the Josselyn Center. In this position, Cam used an extensive knowledge of resources for women facing domestic violence and immigrant families facing difficult situations to connect clients with the right organizations in the Chicagoland area so that they could more easily navigate those difficulties.

Cam champions community through educating people and connecting them with most effective resources around them so that they’re ultimately able to better connect with one another and best contribute to their family units, their neighborhoods, and their cities too.

Beginning a new chapter in Nantes, France, offers Cam a unique chance to help support companies and organizations in continuing to to connect people, educate them, and support them.
